"New" - Category - Reggae/Ska

As probably the latest genre of music styles Reggae/Ska has proved to be a popular category for the singer of backing tracks or as we like to call them self contained artists. There are several areas of Reggae that are more that acceptable to be sung in most modern day venues for instance Boy George from South London capitalised on a Reggae tune with "I Don't Really Want To Hurt You" then there was the most recognised voice in the Reggae field Bob Marley who brought Reggae to the for front on popular songs.

"New" - Category - Jazz - Continued - Continued

Not before have I made three posts about one subject/category so please forgive me if you think I have overindulged at this time. The reason I wish to pursue the Jazz category further is I would like to mention the area of Jazz that I call Trad obviously meaning Traditional I would welcome comments on this from my blog followers as I am afraid all I can remember are musical arrangements that were not vocalled but used a lead instrument to play the melody I can mention Kenny Ball's version of "Midnight in Moscow", Acker Bilk and "Stranger On The Shore" and uplifting tunes by the "Temperance Seven" so the category of Jazz has in my opinion a far wider musical & vocal direction than many other categories on the http://www.soundback.co.uk/ website.

"New" - Jazz - Contiued

New Orleans is well known for it's mixtures of many things including ethnic peoples and cultures but probably better known for it's mixtures of musical styles. Piano players such as Jelly Roll Morten were innovators of one of the styles that came to be known as Jazz. A certain Satchmo known by the name because he used to keep his busking money in his mouth to stop others from taking it, his name of course was Louis Armstrong.
It's not only the singers and musicions but also the songs that made Jazz with vocalist such as Ella Fitzgerald using vocal tones that denote the genre. How many different styles of Jazz are there to give you a guide click on the link below to view the Soundback Jazz category.

"New" - Category - Jazz

Such a wide subject I have decided it will take at least two posts to cover a small introduction to the Jazz category from the Soundback backing track catalogue. Where Jazz originated is possibly as big a question in music as any other but for our purpose we will say it developed in New Orleans and from there it has generated into many versions with such artists as Frank Sinatra, Michael Buble, JAMIROQUAI ,Kenny Ball, Acker Bilk and so many more. To visit our Jazz category click the link below, http://www.soundback.co.uk/quality-backing-tracks/16/0/Jazz.php to see all of our categories goto http://www.soundback.co.uk/

"New - Category - Ballad

To describe a Ballad one has to go back in history to the roaming entertainers of yester year. Greensleeves was and still is known as a Ballad but in the Soundback Ballad category you would struggle to find such a song as we could practically guarantee that a backing track of the song is unlikely to exsist. What we do have though are modern Ballads if you click this link > http://www.soundback.co.uk/quality-backing-tracks/9/0/Ballad.php you will find Ballads from artists such as Frank Sinatra, Meatloaf and rocker Ozzy Osbourne singing songs that have been recorded in London, New York, Los Angeles to name but a few and all coming under the banner of Ballads. New - Category - Fun To Sing Songs

It could be argued that all songs are fun to sing and I would whole heartily agree with that assumption but for easy to find in our catalogue we at Soundback have made a separate category for these songs, songs such as "All Together Now" by "Intermission and "I Am A Cider Drinker" by " The Wurzells" to name two of the selection. to find these songs click >http://www.soundback.co.uk/quality-backing-tracks/61/0/Fun-To-Sing-Songs.php or > www.soundback.co.uk to veiw the whole catalogue.

New - R & B - R 'n' B - Rhythm And Blues

From Manfred Mann to Mary J Blige from Chuck Berry to Beonce, from the late 50s to the modern day it could be suggested that the category of Rhythm & Blues spans more artists than any other category and has a wider cross spectrum of sounds to it's name. http://www.soundback.co.uk/ has a massive selection of the R & B - R 'n' B go to > http://www.soundback.co.uk/quality-backing-tracks/6/0/R-n-B.php to see our selection.

New - 50/60s - Category

I believe one of the biggest changes in modern music came in the era's of the 50 & 60s. The first Pop chart was established by the New Musical Express in 1952 with songs such as "Here In My heart" by "Al Martino" , Max Bygraves and Vera Lynn were also prominent artists of the early 50s. Music then developed into a harder much more robust style with Rock & Roll much of the inspiration for this style came from the Black artists of the time, Little Richard, Chuck Berry etc . This music then inspired another generation to ad yet several more styles those being " The Rolling Stones", "The Beatles" who were often emulation artist such as "Muddy Waters" ,"Howlin'Wolf" etc. To view this category in the Soundback catalogue click the link below.

New - Medley

I would describe a Medley as often the way to sing several related songs in a shorter period that it would normally take, therefore adding a large dynamic in a short space of time. Many of the top Artists such as Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra and many more have performed Medleys of there most popular songs so the audience's from New York to London can enjoy listening to nostalgic performances.
To see a selection of the Medley's available in the Soundback catalogue > http://www.soundback.co.uk/quality-backing-tracks/56/0/Medley.php

New - Dance

On this post I will endeavour to introduce the Soundbacks category of Dance. With so many variations from Acid House, Rave to established artists such as Madonna, Michael Jackson and Tom Jones all have come under the category of Dance. This is mainly due to the tempo of the song that defines it as Dance. One of the major venues known for playing Dance music was the Hacienda in Manchester along with several Mediterranean Islands such as Ibiza. New - Soul/Motown Category

As an introduction to this category of Soul/Motown which can be found at the link below
http://www.soundback.co.uk/quality-backing-tracks/18/0/Soul-Motown.php is why have Soundback combined Soul & Motown under one banner. From what I can make out this more about the Artists that the Genre and Artists such as Smokey Robinson,The Temtation, The Four Tops etc will always be associated with other non Motown Artists such as Otis Reading, Wilson Pickett, Sam & Dave etc all big name under the Soul Banner but recording as far apart as Memphis, Chicargo and Detroit in America. In the United Kingdom though a smaller but just as vibrant Soul scene was being enjoyed with Bands such as The Equals,Geno Washington and the Ram Jam Band, the Band being named after The Beat Club in Brixton and who can forget The Foundations.

New - The Folk Category

At www.soundback.co.uk there is a comprehensive Folk Music category. Folk Music can be interpreted in many ways, as a music that encompasses traditional songs from many backgrounds with a variety of styles, lyrics and rhythms. To many in the modern world it has an infinity to protest with singers/songwriters such as Woody Guthrie and Bob Dylan. While Woody was rural based across America Bob was generally Urban based in New York. In the United Kingdom many bands in the 60/70s took up the protest mantle and recorded under the Folk Music Banner.

New - The Blues Category

It could be suggested that in most opinions about the Blues that it is a category of music that has an enormous element of feeling attached to it. This feeling is known to have a element of sadness in it's style.
Singers and Performers of the Blues range from Artists as diverse as Eric Clapton to Howlin' Wolf who would perform in such places as Beale St,New Orleans and Buddy Guys Club in Chicago. At  http://www.soundback.co.uk/ we keep a large selection of Blues Backing Tracks.

New - Categories And There Need

Have you ever wondered how or even when a category of music was formed, Lets take Classical Music for instance how did this category become named who named it and why. It could be suggested that at the time it was written/performed or constructed that it was popular so what made it Classical ? One could suggest it's the style that makes the category or possibly the time line who’s to say? At www.soundback.co.uk we have well over 50 categories that include songs that could be construed are only in certain categories because of the artist that wrote or sang them and have nothing to do with time lines or styles.
A question for you, what would you say is the latest musical category to be formed?

Answer via blog posts.
